Job ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking an Engineer II specializing in cloud-based telephony platforms, with mandatory expertise in AWS Connect and experience with NICE inContact as a strong plus. This role is responsible for owning the technical delivery of moderately complex features and small systems, designing solutions that scale, and supporting system health through quality, testing, and observability.The Engineer II will deliver new capabilities across Amazon Connect, ensure seamless integration with Salesforce Service Cloud and other enterprise applications, and contribute to long-term reliability. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers and raising engineering standards across the squad.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of moderately complex AWS Connect telephony features (IVR flows, routing logic, queue management, call recording).
  • Design and implement scalable, modular, and testable Amazon Connect components.
  • Ensure secure and compliant integrations with Salesforce Service Cloud and related enterprise systems.
  • Refactor suboptimal flows/configurations to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability.

System Health & Reliability

  • Build integration and end-to-end test coverage for telephony features.
  • Apply observability practices using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and related tools.
  • Participate in postmortems, incident remediation, and long-term reliability improvements.
  • Document designs, interfaces, and architectural decisions to support knowledge transfer and onboarding.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Collaborate closely with QA, Product, Design, and Architecture to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers through pairing, feedback, and code/design walkthroughs.
  • Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to align stakeholders.
  • Accurately estimate and scope work, surfacing risks and dependencies early.

Qualifications

  • Required
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on AWS Connect experience (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of call routing, IVR design, SIP, PSTN, VoIP, and telephony protocols.
  • Experience with Amazon Connect APIs, Lambda functions, Lex bots, and S3 call recording.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, and observability tools.
  • Proven ability to own features/systems from design through post-launch monitoring.
  • Preferred
  • Experience with NICE inContact (routing, QM, WFM).
  • AWS certifications (AWS CCP, AWS Connect specialty).
  • Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS + Azure).
  • Background in contact center modernization projects, including NICE-to-AWS migrations.

  • Mentors junior engineers and raises team-wide standards.
  • Communicates risks, blockers, and technical trade-offs proactively.
  • Demonstrates ownership of features and systems from planning to release.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure scalability and quality.
